Unit Description

Domestic and family homicides make up for approximately 45% of all homicides in Queensland and a significant proportion of all homicides of women worldwide. However, research evidence is rarely integrated into professional practice in the very fields where they are key for prevention.

This unit aims to provide knowledge based on the latest research about the risks and characteristics of domestic homicide and suicide inform professional practice and further study. This will help students understand what kind of action or intervention is necessary to to prevent violence.
