The Graduate Certificate in Education (Innovative Learning Design) explores the emerging digital education theory and practice field, underpinned by the core principles of adult teaching and learning in a dynamic digital workspace. You will gain a deep understanding of the core principles of learning and instructional design within a dynamic digital space.
This course is not an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) course and does not qualify graduates for teacher registration in Australia.

Entry requirements
You can gain entry into the Graduate Certificate in Education (Innovative Learning Design) with:
6-month program
- a completed recognise bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline
or
- a completed recognised diploma in a relevant area, with at least two years (full-time or equivalent) professional work experience in a relevant area
or
- five years (full-time or equivalent) professional experience in a relevant area.
Course outcomes
Graduates of this course will gain a deep understanding of the core principles that underpin learning and instructional design within the digital space.

Our units focus on the theory – the ‘why’ of learning design – in an adult online environment. This course will give you the confidence to create excellent online learning. Technology is covered in every unit, but you do not need to learn specific tools. You will, however, have the opportunity to use tools of your choice for some assignments.
This course focuses on adult online learning. Experience in other areas in the Education field can be helpful, however, it is not essential to be successful.
This course alone will not enable you to become a teacher.
