Student community
Connect with other postgraduate students navigating the world of online studying. Share tips, gain insights and learn from your peers as you join a community that’s made for you.
Our online communities house students from various courses and disciplines, bringing together different perspectives and methods of succeeding in your online studies.
Orientation Week (O-week)
O-week is the perfect event for you to engage in activities and make connections with other students in your course. Network with your peers and learn more about your course, department and academics involved.
O-week provides a great opportunity to adjust to your course, familiarising yourself with the required tech, software and pace of your program.
Study buddies program
We’ve designed the QUT Study Buddies Program as a fun and effective way for you to share your learning in a group. Research shows that studying in groups can help create a more engaging study experience. It can also help you develop better study habits that lead to long-term academic success.
The Study Buddies Program is open to new students and students early in their studies and runs for the duration of the teaching period. We’ll aim to group you with three other students who are studying the same course and units as you. You’ll be sent your buddies’ details at the end of Week 1.
Student community leader program
The QUT Student Community Leader (QUTO – SCL) Program is a dedicated initiative aimed at assembling a team of university-selected students empowered to enhance the student experience for their peers.
As a QUTO – SCL, you’ll provide support to students on QUT Online Connect by addressing questions, offering advice, and encouragement, and fostering discussions throughout the teaching period (TP).

Our online community continues to grow and this is only possible through the engagement of our students. Connecting with our online groups gives you the ability to share information and experiences while feeling part of the greater QUT Online community.
