New Master of Justice* and Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence*

QUT Online is excited to launch two new programs: the Master of Justice (to be introduced in 2026) and the Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence (to be introduced in 2025). Those enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Policy and Governance, Graduate Certificate in Investigations and Intelligence and Graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Responses will be able to receive 48 credit points of advanced standing towards the Master of Justice. Those enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Responses will alternatively be able to receive 48 credit points of advanced standing towards the Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence.

Master of Justice

The new Master of Justice consists of 144 credit points (12 units) and can be completed in 1.5 years full time or 3 years part time study. The course allows students to upskill to Master’s level study majoring in one of the following areas:

· Domestic Violence Responses

· Prevention and Responses to Sexual Violence

· Policy and Governance

· Investigations and Intelligence

The 144 credit points is composed of:

Core units – 36 credit points

Major – 48 credit points

Complementary studies – 60 credit points (comprised of 24 credit points of Justice unit options; PLUS an additional 36 credit points of Justice units or of university-wide unit options.

Graduates in the Master of Justice will gain advanced knowledge in:

· Designing approaches for working with a plurality of diverse stakeholders and communities

· Evaluating complex and sensitive social justice problems and recommend evidence-based responses

· Applying a range of communication modes to professionally and strategically convey critical information to diverse stakeholders

· Investigating and critiquing how ethics, intersectionality and contextual factors impact on and shape social justice issues

· Evaluating research, data and evidence related to justice practices and contexts

You will also have the exciting opportunity to undertake an independent research project.

Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence

The new Graduate Diploma in Prevention and Responses to Gendered Violence consists of 96 credit points (8 units) and can be completed in 1 year full time or 2 years part time study. The course allows students to develop an advanced professional skill set in the field of gendered violence prevention and response.

Students will undertake units covering the following areas:

Dynamics of Domestic Violence, Children and Family Violence, Reducing Lethal Risk, Working with Domestic Violence Victim-Survivors, Preventing Sexual Violence, Responding to Sexual

Violence, Working in the Sexual Violence Sector, Sexual Violence in Diverse Communities and Contexts

If you enrol now into the Graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Responses, you will be able to articulate into the Master of Justice or Graduate Diploma in Responses to Gendered Violence.
